Various causes of the industrial revolution
By 1920 the US had become a major industrial power in the world. There was already an Industrial Revolution going on over in Britain it took America a little longer, because of the abundance of land and labor scarcity. The start of the Industrial Revolution is often contributed to Samuel Slater. Samuel had the first industrial mill in the United States which increased the speed of cotton. There was an advancement of electricity and other machines which could do the work of a man. People started moving into the city, because there was less demand for farming and people started mostly working in factories. During this time transportation also grew which meant the workers weren't just working to produce locally anymore. As more people moved to the city the need for product went up. The government helped protect American manufacturers by passing a protective tariff.
